Hello from Italy!
I need help to repair my RC-300 from telefunken.
The problem is the head ensemble, when I press the play button, it goes up and down, but it not reach the final position and obviously, no tape is played.
Prior to open the papst, better ask if someone can help......
..troubleshooting: (I've got a ASC/ASN-200 D with the same failure, not even fixed)
A)Maybe the part shown in the drawing has to become loose..
Service Manual:

B) ..some capacitors in the driver-section maybe faulty (low capacity/leaky)..unsolder an replace it.
WOW SUPER!!
Give me some time to check out all info, since I am not a technician.
I will let you know what is broken.
Thankyou Francisco for these nice info.
Well I can see a shiny halo on the pcb beneath the C743 and C739.
Maybe an halo does mean a leak?
C716, C719 and C723 are clean even if this not means that they are ok.
Cannot find the C717 and C720, maybe they are under a ribbon or near a connector and I cannot see theyr name.
Anyway, a strange thing near the C719: 2 diodes soldered in series and the inverted pins of the T708 transistor (but maybe it's all regular...).

The lever into the papst is attached to the head ensemble. Still to open the papst body.
When the play button is pressed, I can hear a working magnet, like a relais click, but there is no lift force, the relais opens and the heads falls down, cyclically.
