Great work! Drinks Keep on going the story!

What do you use to remove this old glue? I have this also very often and I removed it mechanically only. Not the best way and not so clean as yours.

Thank you!

Hallo Jan,

ich benutze in schwierigen Fällen immer Aufkleberentferner - Labelremover. Das funktioniert ganz gut, muß aber, je nach Kleber, länger einwirken.

Jan,an old Sansui-san once told me Nitroverdünnung is the right stuff. Oldie
Apply it several times with a cotton swab, until the glue becomes soft, and then followed by mechanical scraping.Takes about 20 minutes to remove all the glue from suche a small pcb.Take time, do not hurry up.

Hi Robert, what is the reason for changing the capacitors?

Hello Armin Drinks
Reason?
Somehow, I get the feeling that you don’t agree with me about changing capacitors...ok,I’ll try to explain ( but my general opinion is that all capacitors should be changed... especially if the device will be in daily use)
1.-this preamp is over 35 years old
2.-it will be in 24/7 use in the future
3.-already been repaired and some capacitors changed with cheap oneNichtok

A little backstory...
I heard that the CA/BA-3000 combo will be for sale in a neighboring country for a couple of days (before owner published an Ad). I contacted him ...he also sent me a pictures... I wasn’t satisfied because CA/BA wasn’t in MINT condition...and I gave up.
A few days later, friend calls me and asks for my opinion.I told him everything,but...he can’t resist and bought all.
And how it usually happens, on his own system, he found all the deficiencies...and here we are.
About friend of mine...he is a real audiophile...have some expensive stuff (Avalon,EMT,C&J....) and a few month ago he descovered Sansui.
He was so thrilled with AU-9900 and decided to buy some more serious Sansui...
Just wait to see how the BA was butchered Flenne
Beste Grüße
Robert

Hi Robert,

Your feeling is the right one! LOL

I never change a capacitor in any device, only when it is defective. Than mostly I change this capacitor in both channels.

Why should I renew a well working capacitor? All the people talk about the lifetime of the capacitors and take it to the reason for changing them. The lifetime of a capacitor is specified at that temperature what is written on it (mostly 85 or 105°C). At normal room temparature it is 600 times higher at average. As example: normally they have a lifetime of 5000 hrs, 5000 x 600 = 300.000 hrs, this means nearly 40 years duty without any switched off times.

respect Armin,respect Thumbsup
Although all the capacitors are working, I think it's just a matter of time when they will start to strike...and then...who knows? Denker
Since I'm Sansui maniac (tnx Jan,great compliment Thumbsup),I want every one Sansui in my possession to be in top condition. They can't be in suche condition with old caps.
