....Ja nee - is' klar jetz' , Joscha.... [Bild: scratch238svt.gif]

Congrats Joscha , beautiful tuner. Enjoy it. The two antenna inputs will help you orient each antenna where it needs to be oriented.
Good tuner with good reception , noise rejection etc. Although the one I had back in 1991 , had a bit super flat sound , compared to my sony ta-e5es, which I ended up keeping.
I've seen a beautiful TU-X1 on ebay.de but the price is stellar , like 2500e or 3000e?

Anyway enjoy it, FM is still on of my favorites , and I suspect , your's too.
....very , ahem - ambitious..... [Bild: scratch238svt.gif]
I've seen them selling between 650,- € an 1200,- € (depending on condition/etc. of course) - some were cheaper - but then it was just luck or there were parts missing or they were in serious need for some tender love & care.

Prices are a little crazy for TOTL-gear from Sansui - but to quote Deubi on that particular X1: "..very , ahem - ambitious...." LOL
X1? maybe not all have seen Holgers TU-X1 report Klick hier zur story
I can't really make a sense out of it , since Google translation from German to English is horrible. The only idea that I get , is that this big boy requires alignment. Naturally after 30 years , most tuners do need alignment. That's not a problem. Same thing happens to amplifiers.
BUT apart from the alignment procedure , TU-X1 is the best tuner ever built , by every manufacturer known . Of course there is a matter of what you want to do with it , and where and how to use it. So sound wise and reception wise , it is still NO 1 . There are other good tuners too. Yes , no objection. But none superior to TU-X1. Don't forget that the tuners guru in usa , modify them to excellence , with todays parts.
Still as is with the know how and parts of the 80's , is still performing excellently. I would grab one in a heartbeat if I had the money. Unfortunately all units that are for sale are truly expensive. So I stand and admire them.
Have a look into the Lab Zero, B760, FM 2002 and you can see what is meant by the term build quality.
TU-X1 does not even have internal shielding...
Of course TU-X1 is not the best tuner ever built. You seem to have forgotten about all of the professional units.

TU-X1, however, is no no doubt the most bling bling tuner for the hi-fi-enthusiast, sure I'll give him that.
But at the same time the tuner with the most wasted effort and expense towards a totally useless AM circuit. A proof of concept, granted.

It may still be a legendary and highly sought after collectible item, but that's about all.
I'd personally rate a TU-919 the better unit. Which makes much more sense anyway and comes with way better looks.
Well, as I said earlier , it depends on the point of view .
As far as shielding goes , I believe it has shielding where it's needed .
I recall some so called battles for the best tuner , back in the 90's , from some magazines of the era. Eventually there were winners in both sides of Atlantic.
TU-X1 was the one in the west side. Now as far the 919 , take a look on the link above and see for your self how they rate it .

...You should'nt worry about Spoc's opinion - He do'nt give a damn on anybody's Equipment , except of his own....

...and He do'nt give a damn on any Sansui - We know about that...Drinks
LOL

sansui78

[Bild: shocked6wlzr.gif] LOL

...Sorry , Mann - habbich wohl glatt überlesen....Pardon
Sorry guys , I can't follow , even with bing translator.
Ti kaneis Smile

I can write it in greek Wink3 . Nevertheless I wrote that it will be useful to compare the technical specs of above mentioned tuners to get the truth Smile
It always depends on the person itself. Some regard technical data and measurements as the only proof, others justify devices by listening to them.
So it is almost impossible to get two persons to have one opinion.
It is the same with geologists: Some regard a soil sample as sandy loam, some as loamy sand. Ask three geologists and you get 4 opinions LOL
